Therapy FAQ's

How do I get started with Myofunctional Therapy?
•    This practice works collaboratively with physicians, dentists, orthodontists and other licensed therapists. This referral-based model allows for coordinated, airway-focused care.
•    If your provider referred you for myofunctional therapy, please schedule an appointment.
•    You can begin your Myofunctional Therapy journey with either a Free 15-minute Phone Assessment, or jump right into a 1.5 hour Comprehensive Evaluation.
•    In a Free Assessment phone call, you will gain insight on muscle dysfunction, related symptoms, average cost of therapy, session frequency, and seamless scheduling.
•    A Comprehensive Evaluation is essential for therapy initiation. This detailed exam charts out your customized treatment plan, session count, and cost. This will ensure your therapy is as effective and successful as possible!

Where is an exam completed?
•    The 1.5 hour Comprehensive Evaluation can be completed either in-person or over Telehealth and is an imperative part of therapy. We are conveniently located in the South Suburban Plaza at 800 Kensington Ave, Suite 204, Missoula, MT 59801.  Telehealth appointments are completed through a Healthcare HIPAA compliant account with the Jane App.

How much does therapy cost?
•    Comprehensive Evaluation is $275
•    Therapy cost is dependent upon your needs and the information gathered in your Comprehensive Exam. Average cost of treatment ranges from $900 - $2000 in total.
•    Discounts are provided for family therapy. 50% off the second family member present. Limit two family members per family therapy.
•    Payment can be made in full or divided into 2 or 3 payments.

Will therapy be covered by my insurance?
•    At this point, insurance is not covering Myofunctional Therapy. A superbill can be provided after each completed session.

Can I use my Health Savings Account Card (HSA) or Flex Spending Funds toward Myofunctional Therapy?
•    Yes, you are welcome to use your HSA card or Flex Spending for therapy.

How long will I be in therapy?
•    This is dependent upon your specific needs and will be determined in your comprehensive exam. Average duration is 6-9 months.
•    The frequency of your sessions is dependent upon skills, challenges, and progress assessments. Average frequency is 2-3 weeks.

Where do I go for therapy?
•    Therapy sessions are available either over Jane App Telehealth or in-person for your convenience. Telehealth virtual visits are completed through a Healthcare HIPAA compliant account and we are conveniently located in Missoula:
o    South Suburban Plaza
800 Kensington Ave, Suite 204
Missoula, MT 59801

How long are the therapy sessions?
•    Please reserve 50 minutes for therapy sessions.

How quickly will I see results from therapy?
•    Success of Myofunctional Therapy is completely dependent upon you. The more you put into it, the more you will get out of it. My most compliant patients will notice results or ease of their symptoms very quickly!

Will I be referred to any other doctors/providers for any reason?
•    Possibly. It can be important to collaborate with other specialists. If a referral is made, it is to ensure sustained results. Patients may be referred out for conditions such as tongue tie, sleep apnea, enlarged tonsils, severe allergies, orthodontics and speech therapy.

How long will the effects of therapy last?
•    The lasting effects of therapy are based on the patient's awareness once they are done with treatment. Awareness is key! We must utilize the skills learned and be aware of the behavioral change created with Myofunctional Therapy!
